Who really is Pratik Mishra?

I keep finding new things about myself every day. Here’s a very teeny tiny jist of what I’ve discovered so far!

How do we determine the identify of a person?

If it’s by what they do, then I’m a builder at heart. I’m currently a Research Engineer at IBM, working at the intersection of AI and ITOps. Most days, that means trying to teach models to make sense of messy systems (and occasionally pretending the systems weren’t messy to begin with /:). My work spans LLMs, Agents, RL, ML systems, and applied AI. I've published research at top conferences like AAAI and IEEE, hold a filed U.S. patent, and have led projects deployed into scaled production systems.

If it’s by what they like, then I like things that reward curiosity. Robotics. Chess. Good books. Great films. Fun Games. The last game I beat was Ghost of Tsushima, and I keep returning to board games often enough that my friends still reserve the right to call me a nerd (happily switching to FIFA when the allegations get too strong XD)

If it’s by what they believe, then I believe the next internet-scale transformers-level technological shift will arrive through physical intelligence; particularly Robotics.

The truth is, I don’t really know who I am yet. So far I’d say I am the amalgamation of what I've built, what I've questioned and all the great people I’ve met who've shaped my thinking; and… I’d love to meet you! Reach out to me by the contact links in the navbar and let's chat :))

Abstract

The performance of machine learning (ML) models heavily depends on the quality of the data they are trained on. While prior work often treats data quality as uniform across a dataset, we investigate whether it varies across different population subgroups within a dataset and examine its implications, a phenomenon we refer to as Data Quality Disparity (DQD). Our analysis reveals that many real-world datasets inherently exhibit DQD with underrepresented or marginalized groups frequently associated with lower-quality data compared to more privileged subgroups...

NOVAID -- Natural-language Observability Visualization Assistant for ITOps Dashboard Widget Generation

Authors

Pratik Mishra, Caner Gözübüyük, Seema Nagar, Prateeti Mohapatra, Raya Wittich, Arthur de Magalhaes

Abstract

Manual creation of IT monitoring dashboard widgets is slow, error-prone, and a barrier for both novice and expert users. We present NOVAID, an interactive chatbot that leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate IT monitoring widgets directly from natural language queries. Unlike general natural language–to-visualization tools, NOVAID addresses IT operations–specific challenges -- specialized widget types like SLO charts, dynamic API-driven data retrieval, and complex contextual filters...
